$430.00

Avanos, which is a town in the region of Cappadocia in central Turkiye is the most well- known manufacturer of terracotta ceramics in Turkiye. The pottery of Avanos is a reflection of thousands of years of history and makes use of the red soil of the land. Since Hittite times dating back to 2,000 BC, pottery manufacturing has been practiced in this region and is still done with the same old-fashioned techniques. Up until around 1980, this craft was taught from father to son because only men worked in the potteries.  This 2 handled vessel was traditionally used to carry water, oil and dry goods.
