ODL05 – ODEMIS VESSEL

$2,100.00

During my exploration of the Turkish countryside in the Izmir province, I was fascinated by the rustic Odemis pots, their place of origin. Initially designed to transport honey, olives, and other perishables, as well as dried goods, these whitewashed containers have aged beautifully over time, carrying a rich history with them. Each urn, ranging from 150 to 300 years old, displays distinct and exquisite markings from years of use. Odemis pots, with their unique shapes and intricate designs, are not just practical containers, but also pieces of art that tell a story of craftsmanship and tradition. The craftsmanship involved in creating these pots has been passed down through generations, with each artisan adding their own flair to the design, making every piece truly one-of-a-kind. The beauty of these pots lies not only in their aesthetics, but also in the stories they hold. From the bustling markets of Izmir to the serene olive groves of the countryside, these pots have witnessed centuries of history and culture, making them a fascinating addition to any home.
